Blizzard Esports Champions Crowned at Blizzcon 2018
Between the announcements, cosplay and celebrations of Blizzard titles, Blizzcon 2018 was also the arena for multiple esports tournaments. Becoming the first non-Korean player to win the StarCraft II World Championship series, Finnish player Joona "Serral" Sotala took home the trophy in StarCraft's 20th anniversary year. Korea wasn't to be beaten in everything, as esports giants Gen.G won the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship. Team China, comprised of Gao “Leaoh” Yang, Zheng “OmegaZero” Lin, Zhang “YouLove” Lichen, and He “Trunks” Huan, completed their Hearthstone Global Games run with a 3-0 sweep over Brazil.
Moving over to World of WarCraft, Method Orange from North America won the Arena World Championship, while Australian team Free Marsy triumphed in the Mythic Dungeon Invitational All-Stars. South Korea also proved their dominance in team-based games by defending their title in the Overwatch World Cup.
