Blizzard Does Not Expect WoW Numbers to Climb

In an interview with MCV during Gamescom this year, lead designer for World of Warcraft Tom Chiltern has been quoted as saying that Blizzard don't expect subscriber numbers to climb back to their 12 million active subs height.

He also stated that the company is concentrating on creating the most compelling content they can and have bundled the level 90 boost with the expansion because releasing expansions is a barrier to the return of old players.

While it is true, the instant 90 will mean people can dive right in to the game at the new content, anyone who has been away for any real amount of time will have little idea what they are doing with new abilities and gear that has been introduced since they left.

In the meantime, we'll be rolling new alts so we can play with the character creation screen.
