Bioware Closing Community Forums

Bioware have decided to close the public facing forums for popular franchises Dragon Age, Mass Effect as well as legacy forums for their older titles (such as Neverwinter Nights). The forums for Star Wars: The Old Republic are not affected by these closures however and will continue to be maintained.

The forums will close down in two stages, on the 26th August 2016 they will be placed in a read-only state and no new posts will be able to be made. They will be taken completely offline on 25th October 2016. This allows any information people wish to keep to be taken before it all disappears.

Bioware's stated reasoning for closing the forums after so long is that originally they were the only point of contact between staff and the public and over time so many more venues for communication have become available that they don't deem them necessary any longer.

In a blog post on the official site Bioware indicate how their social media presence on sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram as well as sites like Tumblr and reddit give more immediate contact and feedback.
