BATTLETECH Extends Its Tactical Options With New Expansion
Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes have announced the first expansion to their mech-based strategy game, BATTLETECH. Titled Flashpoint it aims to introduce three new Mechs including the fan favourite Hatchetman, a machine that unsurprisingly carries a rather large axe.
The main addition are the titular Flashpoints, these are branching short stories made up from procedural mercenary missions that are linked together with conversations, choices and events. Potentially including "Consecutive Deployments" that force you into the next mission in the chain without the chance to repair.
Alongside new Mechs, the others being the Crab and the Cyclops, and the new Flashpoints are a new biome type, a lush jungle environment and a new encounter type called "Target Acquisition" which focuses on map control.
BATTLETECH: Flashpoint is due for release in November.
