Battleborn's Winter Update
Battleborn may have a dying community for what is really a fun game that is a First Person Shooter Massive Online Battle Arena that got squashed against Overwatch. But that doesn’t mean it’s out for the count and with a new update that appears to be major update.
A Twitch stream that happened earlier this month detailed the update live, that can be found here. A condensed overview of update is as follows:
- All 25 core characters will be unlocked after beating the Prologue, with the story campaigns now unlocking a brand new skin on completion. Several challenges have been made more attainable (which probably means made more easy).
- Story Mode missions have more guides and tools to help guide your experience. The credit rewards have also been boosted to give you an early edge on loot packs.
- Two new Training modes: Incursion Tutorial and Dojo. Incursion Tutorial is designed for learning the PvP element of the game and how to gain the edge in competitive. This is solo initially, but can be redone in groups up to three. Whilst Dojo allows you to try out each hero for a test drive.
- UI has been overhauled to look cleaner, more vibrant and easier to navigate from starting screen to character select.
- Draft Mode makes it so that teams and players to take it in turns to pick a character and making it unavailable, allowing both sides to formulate the perfect team and counter.
- Daily Quests has been added to reward completion for Story Mode and Competitive Multiplayer Mode.
- Ranks have been increased to 150 for Command Rank and rank 20 for each character with new rewards.
- In-game economy of Credits has been changed to make it faster to accumulate in public PvP for faster loot pack purchasing in the marketplace. Those that leave early in the game will receive nothing.
- Loot Packs in the Marketplace has been condensed to the Core Pack with better odds for higher rarity gear with a chance to drop any skin or taunt previously available in Faction packs. Story Mode mission loot packs are unchanged.
- Boosts have increased in variety for Platinum in the Marketplace.
- Last but not least, PS4 Pro support for either 1080p at 60fps or 4K at 30fps.
Phew, that’s a quite the update. More details can be found here. This will definitely give a reason to give the game a go again.
