Battle Axe Devs Talk Details at Numskull Presents 2021

We got an all-new look at Henk Nieborg’s top-down hack & slasher Battle Axe at the February 2021 Numskull Presents event. Check out the video above for an insight into the game’s various modes, design elements and stunning pixelart design from the developers themselves.

In Battle Axe you’ll go solo or team up with a friend as Fae the dark elf, Rooney the marauder or Lalo the druid to free the realm of Mercia from the unrelenting grip of Etheldred, a tyrannical sorceress. The elusive villain resides in her distant tower, sending out her armies to kidnap innocents each seven years, It’s up to you to stop her!

With retro hack & slash gameplay, stunning high-detail pixel art and a soundtrack composed by VGM composer Manami Mastumae (yeah, the Mega Man guy), there’s a lot to look forward to in this retro-inspired title.

Battle Axe releases on Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in April 2021
