Anime- and Vampire Survivors-inspired Atomic Picnic Launch Trailer and Roadmap
Developer BitCake Studio and publisher Mad Mushroom are proud to share the Early Access release for Atomic Picnic, a brand-new 3D shooter inspired by Vampire Survivors.
Atomic Picnic has officially released in Steam's Early Access, where you'll be able to play the game before the full release. Featured currently are four characters that you can play as (dubbed Loners) as you head out to three different worlds (called Picnics).
Mixing third-person shooting with the tried-and-true Vampire Survivors formula, a genre now known as Bullet Heaven, Atomic Picnic will let you head out as you defeat enemies, gathering weapons, and completing challenges throughout each Picnic. You can pick from five traditional weapons — the assault rifle, shotgun, grenade launcher, sniper rifle, and pistol — and find Curious to get in-run upgrades to help you progress through the Picnic and create your own build! You can get Standard Curios, Cursed Curios, and Evolved Curios, the last of which you can get by combining two Curios and creating a stronger version of it (similar to the system found in poncle's ever-famous title).
The Roadmap for the title suggests that there will be more Curios, Mementos (which work as your roguelite upgrading system), Characters, new Enemies, Mini-bosses, and Bosses, New weapons and a way to upgrade them via a Mod System, and many other things, such as Twitch integration, new maps, new Combat Director AI, and additional miscellaneous additions! It's not exactly clear which are the priorities, but we do know that all of these additions are planned at a later date, spanning somewhere between now and the official launch, which the team anticipate will be in late 2025 or beyond.
Head into the wasteland and fight up 11 distinct enemies across three Picnics with four Loners in the official Early Access launch of Atomic Picnic! Start your adventure either solo or with three other friends with a starting price of £16.75. The price is expected to raise after the Early Access period.
