Amnesia: The Bunker Delay Pushes Launch Back

Frictional Games recently took to Twitter to announce a short delay of the fourth instalment in the Amnesia horror series, Amnesia: The Bunker. This is one of many delays the first-person horror title has received during its development as the studio needed more time to polish and perfect the experience. However, this time, “unforeseen certification issues” are cited as the reason for moving the release date. Initially set to launch on PC and consoles on the 23rd of May 2023, Amnesia: The Bunker will now be available on the 6th of June 2023. In other news, fans that are itching to play will be glad to hear Frictional Games has also announced that a free demo will be available on Steam on the 22nd of May 2023.

It's been three years since we've had a new Amnesia title and fans are undoubtedly excited about The Bunker’s launch, and while delays are disappointing, it’s ideal for the game to ship in its best condition. “The extra time will allow us to rectify the problem and ensure the best possible gameplay experience upon release. We thank you for your understanding and patience,” Frictional Games said in its statement. Compared to some of the delays the industry has seen recently, an additional two weeks is not long at all.

Set in a desolate WW1 bunker, Amnesia: The Bunker will have you tackle survival in a semi-open world, playing as the French soldier Henri Clément. If you’re familiar with any previous titles in the series — The Dark Descent, A Machine for Pigs, and Rebirth — you know you’re in for a tense, atmospheric horror experience. But with The Bunker, some modern improvements have been made to the iconic Amnesia gameplay loop. In this case, your every move, sound, and decision will be watched by an ever-present enemy that reacts to your play style. Plus, you have access to a revolver, making this the first Amnesia title to let you fight back against the monster.

Amnesia: The Bunker will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on its new release date: the 6th of June 2023. To reiterate, a free demo will be available on Steam on the 22nd of May 2023.
