Ambessa Medarda Ability Rundown Overview

Ambessa Medarda Ability Rundown Overview

The Noxian menace Ambessa Medarda is making her way to the rift from Arcane. In preparation for the second season of the famous Netflix show,  League of Legends is introducing the latest champion and final one of 2024! Seemingly only known as "Ambessa Medarda" (leaving us wondering what her Mastery 10 title will be for inevitable mains), she'll be arriving to the game on the 6th of November alongside Patch 14.22, where top lane will receive its newest threat to deal with.

Her are all of her abilities and everything you need to know about the character.

Drakehound's Step

Passive

First, let's talk about Ambessa's ability source. She's the newest Energy user in the game (it has been a while since we see one!), having a total of 200 Energy to use in her abilities. That said, each of her attacks costs 70 Energy, so this is where the second half of her passive comes into play.

Ambessa's passive is going to be difficult for some players to deal with. After every ability, whenever the player issues an attack or move command, Ambessa will dash towards that location, effectively giving her four dashes incorporated into her kit. This will increase her attack range and speed, and dealing damage will return some of her Energy, allowing her to continue using her abilities to keep getting more dashes. Essentially, the same as Lee Sin.

It's worth noting that none of her dashes are able to go over walls, and Ambessa's a very movement-heavy champion, which means that she'll be aggressively countered by any sort of movement impairment. Grounding, stuns, and movement impairing (like Poppy's W) will be hard counters, especially as Ambessa's abilities (aside form her Q) have medium-to-long cooldowns.

Cunning Sweep / Sundering Slam

Q

Ambessa's Q is her bread-and-butter, lowest-cooldown ability that will give her most of the mobility she'll need to get through the fight. This is a two-parter, where you'll be able to use the second cast only if you hit the first.

Cunning Sweep is a wide sweep ability that deals extra damage to enemies standing at the edge. It's a shorter range, meaning you'll have to be at a moderate distance to trigger the second Q, meaning it might not be the best initiating tool if you intend on going into ranged champions.

Once hit, you'll be able to recast Q for Sundering Slam, a straight-line chain attack. The first enemy hit by this ability will take bonus damage, meaning that you'll want to be on top of your primary target by the time you're using this one.

Repudiation

W

With her W, Ambessa gives herself a shield, and if she manages to block an enemy attack within the short duration of the brace, she'll deal extra damage with a consecutive slam to the ground. The damage can come from a champion, large monster, or structure (so no caster or melee minions can trigger it).

Her brace and shield take place before the slam, which means that you can dash after using the brace to reposition yourself to deal extra damage at the end of your dash.

Lacerate

E

Ambessa's hits around herself in a circle (similarly to Sylas' passive auto attack), which damages and briefly slows enemies. If you use Drakehound's Step (passive) with this attack, she'll do a second attack around herself, counting Lacerate's damage and slow twice, meaning you won't want to be missing out on dashing for this attack (though, likely, you'll want to be dashing with every attack).

Public Execution

R

Public Execution is a straight-line skill shot that connects to the last target it hits. She'll suppress the target, deal damage to them, and end it off with a brief stun, giving her a lock-down opportunity against the foe; though it has a long range, it's a thin line skill shot with a slight cast time and animation.

It also has a passive that gives her Armor Penetration and makes it so that her Abilities heal her, giving her an exponential buff after reaching level 6 and unlocking it.

Ambessa Medarda will be arriving to League of Legends on the 6th of November alongside Patch 14.22.
