Alone in the Dark Delays Launch and Sets New Release Date
The highly anticipated release of Alone in the Dark (2023), a reimagination of the classic survival horror game, has been delayed. THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have pushed the return of Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood from the game's original October 2023 launch window, rescheduling its arrival for the 16th of January 2024.
For the uninitiated, October is a busy month for game releases. Exciting titles like Assassin's Creed Mirage, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and many more will take the spotlight. Alone in the Dark would prefer to stay as alone as possible when it arrives.
“This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October,” the devs stated in an official Steam post.
This isn’t the first time games have tried to dodge each other’s releases this year. Just last month, Baldur's Gate 3 released early for PC players to avoid Starfield's anticipated September launch, which would have left players with a tough decision if they stuck to the original schedule. Tadpole-filled adventures versus space shenanigans — it's an impossible choice!
Join Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood at the Derceto Manor soon! Alone in the Dark will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam on the 16th of January 2024.
