Activision to Shut Down Call of Duty Mobile Studio
Activision have announced they will be shutting down their mobile game developer The Blast Furnace by the end of the month.
The Blast Furnace were responsible for Call of Duty: Strike Team for iOS and Android, as well as producing versions of classic Activision titles for mobile such as Pitfall.
Regarding the closure, an Activision representative commented:
Having explored a range of options, including a potential sale of the business, and consulted with the staff about the options, we have not been able to find a suitable alternative for the talented team in the timescales set by the consultation exercise and have agreed to close The Blast Furnace.
The closing of the studio will cause 47 developers to lose their jobs, although Activision will look to move some of them to other places within the company.
