Access-Ability Summer Showcase 2024: Cellular City

The puzzle game, Cellular City was developed by Callum Deery, and in it, you build tiny cities. The primary building mechanic centres around rules regarding neighbouring buildings, for example, players will not be able to place a block of flats beside a steel foundry.

On the other hand, some buildings, such as stations and flats, can be included. There is text-to-speech, which allows blind and low-vision players to help identify where each building is and can be placed. The volume, rate, and voice can all be adjusted in the settings with keyboard and controller support. Each level description will begin automatically upon the start of each level load, but can also be re-prompted by the player.

The player can also prompt descriptions of each buildings, and if you're a fan of city-builders, this can supply an interesting one for you. After all, you'll be able to explore the tensions in a modern city.

Cellular City's demo is currently available to play on itch.io.
