A New Pokémon Snap Game is in Development
During a recent 10-minute Pokémon themed presentation, the long-awaited follow-up to the fan favourite Nintendo 64 title Pokémon Snap was announced, aptly named New Pokémon Snap.
The announcement was presented via a short trailer, showcasing some of the terrains and Pokémon that will be featured in the game. While fans weren’t given an extensive look at the game, it gives a good indication of what we can expect.
In terms of gameplay, it looks very similar to the original - players are kept on rails as an automated vehicle guides them through the environments, while they have to try and snap (excuse the pun) as many high-quality pictures of different Pokémon as possible.
While the trailer notes that the game footage presented isn’t final, it looks promising, featuring a nice range of lush and expansive environments. It appears there will be a good variety of different Pokémon on offer too, with classics like Pikachu and Squirtle being featured alongside the likes of lesser-known creatures such as Swanna and Zangoose. Some newer Pokémon from Sword and Shield - including Scorbunny and Grookie - can be spotted throughout the trailer too.
The title is unsurprisingly being outsourced, with Bandai Namco handling the project. There is currently no set release date, with the game seemingly still being in the early stages of development. New Pokémon Snap will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
