2D DayZ Tie-In Released by Bohemia Interactive
Bohemia Interactive, the team behind zombie survival simulator DayZ, has announced that it will be releasing a free 2D top-down version of the game, named MiniDayZ.
Based on the map and setting of the original, MiniDayZ will offer players the opportunity to scavenge for food and supplies in a fully pixelated 2D rendition of Chernarus. For those looking forward to hunting down bandits and new players, though, prepare to be disappointed as the game is singleplayer only.
The 2D version will possibly be a welcome addition to the franchise, as optimisation issues in the original game have left many player struggling to play with steady frame rates. Bohemia state on its website:
If you think you have what it takes, you can pick up the PC version of MiniDayZ for free from the Bohemia Interactive store!
No news has been released over whether the 2D version will feature content not yet implemented in the 3D standalone, such as vehicles.
DayZ released its latest standalone update, "Experimental 0.51.12", last week.
