Desnecessauro: Another Dinosaur Run Game Review
Dinosaurs are great. They might not be alive with us right now but they are a great source of entertainment. That’s where Desnecessauro: Another Dinosaur Run Game hopes to sit offering a playful endless runner adventure for mobile phones. With dinosaurs, lasers and even some clever references. How does the title fare and is it worth a spot on your mobile phone?
As to be expected the gameplay in Desnecessauro: Another Dinosaur Run Game is that of an endless runner. Your cute dinosaur continues to run towards the right of the screen and chases a purple dinosaur. The controls allow you to jump over obstacles or dash forward to destroy them. Timing is key however, as the cool down on the moves can leave you open to taking damage and failing your run. If however, you make it to key points of a run you get the chance to charge a laser and fire it your target. This is a fantastic moment within the game that feels really rewarding both in terms of gameplay and visuals.
The only real downsides I noticed with the gameplay though is that sometimes the collisions with obstacles feels a bit off. This is to say that it often looks as though your dinosaur friend has clear the hazard only to then be taking out at the last second. This was an annoyance when it happened but it didn’t break the game experience for me. Once you learn to master those controls and the timing with them you soon become more fluid with your actions ensuring better runs.
Along with running as far as you can to chase after the purple dinosaur and fire your laser at them you also need to collect as many coins as you can. These coins allow you to make a number of purchases within the game. From unlocking a number of outfits which are all cute and full of pop culture references, to buying continuous and headsets on a run. Additionally there are diamonds that can be found and earned which you use to purchase gift boxes. These contain a number of rewards such as more coins, outfits and even unlockable photos.
The game offers a number of fair chances to earn the currency needed meaning that not once did i feel the need to spend real money. Desnecessauro: Another Dinosaur Run Game does of course have adverts within it, offering another option to continue a run, and includes a small in-app purchase to remove. It’s a fair price and for a game that is as fair and enjoyable as this it doesn’t feel forced.
Visually the title is impressive with clean, bright colours that make the game a joy to look at whilst playing. The art-style is fun with the animations being smooth and fluid throughout even with the mentioned hitbox issue now and again. One of the most enjoyable elements though of Desnecessauro is by far it’s sound and music. The tone of the game is captured within all the sounds and really helps to get across the playful nature of the title.
Desnecessauro: Another Dinosaur Run Game is indeed a fun title. It may have a few small issues but these are easily fixed in a future update. The title has a wealth of unlockable content and an enjoyable core gameplay loop. If you're looking for a title that will offer you a good amount of smiles and fun then look no further than Desnecessauro.
