Trust GXT 229 LED PlayStation 5 Vertical Stand Review

My PlayStation 5 Pro has been balancing precariously without a stand for some time now, as I refused to pay for something that should have been included in the box. Thankfully, the good people over at Trust have sent me a flashier, more affordable alternative to Sony’s official product: the GXT 229 LED Vertical Stand!

Included in the package is everything needed to keep your PS5 console safe and secure. You’ve got the vertical stand (obviously), an adaptor for original PS5 models, a thumb screw, and a USB-C to A cable. Attaching the stand is quick and easy, regardless of which PS5 you have. For the Slim and Pro consoles, it’s as simple as removing the rubber screw hole cover at the bottom of your machine and aligning the hole on the stand marked with “PS5 Slim”. For original models, you’ll just need to click the adaptor onto the stand before lining up the hole marked “PS5”.

The thumb screw used to keep the stand in place has a very useful little handle on it, meaning no need for a screwdriver. Once tightened, the handle clips down, preventing it from getting in the way when standing your PS5 up. As for the USB-C to A cable, that plugs into one of the rear USB ports on the PS5 in order to power the LED around the rim of the stand. There are six different colour options: red, blue, green, yellow, pink, and white, as well as a breathing effect that slowly changes between them. They can also be turned off and the USB cable can be disconnected, though, should you prefer to use this solely as a stand.

Overall, this is a good, if not better, alternative to Sony's offering. Not only is it cheaper at £14.99 (compared to £24.99 for the official one), but it’s also sturdy enough that you won’t need to worry about your PS5 toppling over. Plus, who doesn’t love accessories that light up? Whilst the metallic design of the official version may look more premium, the option to surround your PS5 with a splash of colour makes this the superior choice, in my opinion.
