Will Ahsoka Tano Be in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor — Respawn Entertainment's sequel to the acclaimed Jedi: Fallen Order — getting closer and closer to its release date on the 28th of April, my excitement is reaching a fever pitch! Though, while there are a variety of interesting theories and wishes for the game that people have been throwing around, there is one possibility that has captured my attention above all others: Ahsoka Tano.

For those who've not been terribly interested in the wider Star Wars universe, Ahsoka Tano might be an unfamiliar name. Ahsoka, a Togruta who made her first appearance in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated film, was once a Jedi Padawan of one Anakin Skywalker — a man who later came to be known as the Sith Lord Darth Vader. She continued to act as one of the main characters in the subsequent The Clone Wars animated series before eventually leaving the Jedi Order. Ahsoka has since made a variety of appearances across the franchise, including a major recurring role in the series Star Wars: Rebels, a small amount of episode appearances in the live-action series The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, a voiced cameo towards the end of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, a lead role in a book titled after her, and an upcoming live-action limited series also simply titled Ahsoka. And those are only a handful of her franchise-wide appearances.

In short, Ahsoka Tano has become a rather prolific character within the Star Wars franchise — heck, she's even one of my favourites, just shy of Jar Jar Binks (please don't hate me) — and she is continuing to rise in popularity. Of course, this fame, on its own, is hardly any reason to assume she'll be in Jedi: Survivor. I've heard some people online argue that she might make for a good character in Survivor on account of some similarities between her and Survivor's protagonist, Cal Kestis, but I'm not going to make that claim here today. I believe I have something a little stronger.

Here, I should mention EA Capital Games' Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes: a mobile RPG set in a cantina where the player can collect holographic versions of the Star Wars cast and then battle others with them for fun and profit. It's been running since August of 2015 and in that time, it's gathered together a wide roster. For example, there are characters like Mission Vao and HK-47 from the classic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic videogame, the Phoenix crew from Star Wars: Rebels, and even Grand Moff Tarkin from the original Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope film. There are a few gaps here and there, admittedly, like Jar Jar Binks (I will die on this hill), but for the most part, everyone is here. There are even three different versions of Ahsoka!

Now, let's bring everything together. Very recently, a new character was added to Galaxy of Heroes: Cal Kestis, from Jedi: Fallen Order and the upcoming Survivor. His kit of abilities is an interesting one, to boot, including the ability to deal more damage when he is at lower health or possibly stun the entire enemy team if they have been properly debuffed beforehand. Like many other members of the roster, he also possesses a unique passive ability, his being called I’m Persistent. The ability confers a number of buffs to Unaligned Force Users’ stats — including maximum health — and grants Cal a unique Persistence status effect whenever any of his allies use a special ability. It’s a fun ability, but the most interesting part of it for our purposes is how, in Territory Battles where Cal is allied with one particular version of Ahsoka Tano (the Fulcrum one), I’m Persistent enables Ahsoka to gain the full effects of her buffs that she would normally only be able to use when alone. I’ve looked over the rest of the roster and, while other characters do have special buffs that can interact with the various versions of Ahsoka, Cal is the first to have this particular effect with her and also the first to have any sort of unique interaction with her without having already had any important contact with her in an existing property.

This proves to me that there is in fact some sort of meeting between the two, either existing but having passed my notice or soon-to-be-revealed. Why else would Cal have any unique effect for another character? Of course, there are multiple possibilities for how Ahsoka and Cal will meet, even if I limit myself to the already-announced properties. Ahsoka might have a major role in Jedi: Survivor, but the case could just as easily be that Cal has a major role in the upcoming Ahsoka limited series or that both will unexpectedly appear in some other title.

Though perhaps I am merely too suspicious of this innocuous detail! What do you think? Is there any merit in this speculation? Have I overlooked a precious piece of Star Wars media that I should quickly experience for myself to answer this question? Is there another reason why these two would have a unique relationship without ever having met in person? Is Jar Jar Binks not actually the best Star Wars character? Or am I, in fact, onto something?
