What's the Hype Around Starfield?
Have you been away from the internet for a while, or just don't understand why something is so famous currently? Well, fear no more, because we've got you covered! Here's why everyone is so excited about the upcomingStarfield.
What is Starfield?
Starfield is the first brand-new franchise developed by Bethesda in 25 years. Bethesda is the developer behind the award-winning titles The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (with its numerous rereleases) and Fallout 4.
While The Elder Scrolls setting is in medieval times of magic and Fallout is set in the far and post-apocalyptic future, Starfield's setting is the 24th century; its main focal point is space and space exploration.
What's the hype around it?
And should you be excited too?
Games developed and published by Bethesda tend to get a lot of traction. Although the developers get a lot of flak for the bugs present in their games, they are often regarded as some of the best open-world RPG experiences in the industry. Moreover, fans are anxiously awaiting the release of a brand-new franchise, especially one set in space. It has been around three years now since the official reveal of Starfield and fans are going crazy hoping for more information.
Some fans state that they don't even care for open-world sci-fi exploration titles but are purely buying Starfield out of sheer trust that every Bethesda game has brought them thousands of hours of fun, in both vanilla and modded states.
Aside from undying loyalty to Bethesda, players state that some of the things they are most excited about in Starfield is the space theme, centred around exploration. Of course, as with any Bethesda game, open-world exploration is a central focal point, and a lot of fans are looking forward to witnessing what kind of planets and environments are going to be available. We've already had a quick look at some of the worlds present via Starfield's official Twitter account.
As open-world sci-fi titles are far and few between, even gamers that aren't familiar with Bethesda's formula are excited, mentioning that space exploration games with customisation are some of the best titles when done right.
Players are comparing Starfield to other titles in the genre; common comparisons being thrown around are Starfield against Star Citizen, as seen in the dedicated r/Starfield subreddit. Users of the subreddit mention that they know several players that have played Star Citizen, Mass Effect, and No Man's Sky are looking forward to the brand-new title.
TL;DR
The short and sweet of it.
A lot of Starfield's hype is centred around loyalty to Bethesda, as players have come to trust and appreciate all of the games developed by the company. However, it isn't only the loyal fans that are excited for the release of Starfield, as a lot of gamers show interest in the brand-new title due to its open-world sci-fi exploration setting since it's rare in the industry. Fans of other sci-fi titles, such as Mass Effect, No Man's Sky, and Star Citizen are looking in the direction of Bethesda in anticipation to see just what the king of RPGs has in store for them.
Starfield will release this year on the 11th of November for the Xbox series X|S and PC.

I'm a fan of their games and a sucker for space sims in particular, Starfield however doesn't present much in terms of what it is and what its about. All we have seen so far is a terribly stitched together trailer, what we can make out is a bunch of game mechanics thrown in the blender. And the overused enigma of being an explorer, a little deep dive into some of its critical points. One can make out some glaring problems right off the bat.
* Slow movement and combat.
* Bare minimum resource collection.
* Weapons and tools look like something out of Quake and not a sci-fi esque universe.
* The ship at least in the trailer looks downright terrible, I'm also not sold on being able to create own your ships. Maybe connecting pieces together from a diagram is what they call creating, but no that isn't the same thing as actually building it.
* Ships hud is non-interactive, just a fancy color display if you look closely at the screen the demonstartor is essentially piloting that space garbage with their helmet hud.
* Other pointless jargon: factions, crafting, managing crews roster or settlements.... it all sounds like a chore done terribly in other games already, Beth are just reinventing the wheel with layers of crap to fill new space!
* A thousand planets? How many galaxies? If we are just getting another procedural game with Fallout in space based in a tiny universe. Just say that Beth!
