Top Game Releases for June 2022
There are a ton of cool-looking games coming out in June, so many that it was hard for me to just pick five of these big titles! But it’s always nice to have too many instead of not having enough, so I can’t complain! Here are five titles that I can’t wait to get my hands on!
Mario Strikers: Battle League — 10th of June
Nintendo Switch
This is the third game in the Strikers series, the first coming out in 2005 on the GameCube, Strikers Charged in 2007, so gamers have been waiting 15 years for a new title. The new Mario Strikers isn’t just going to have the local multiplayer matches you love, it has an online mode called strikers club. This is where you can create or join football clubs to compete against other players to earn customisations and rewards depending on how you do. You will get to choose the team captain and the rest of your team from the remaining characters.
I can’t wait to check this game out, I loved playing the titles on the GameCube and Wii against friends and family, so being able to play online with my own club or join existing ones sounds great! Creating my own club including their uniforms is going to be awesome, if you love football (or soccer depending on where you live) this promises to be a title you are going to enjoy!
The Quarry — 10th of June
PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Ever want to feel like you are a character in your favourite slasher flick from the ‘80s? Take on the role as the nine camp counsellors of Hackett’s Quarry who decide that throwing a party to celebrate their last night at this creepy camp is a great idea. Nothing bad can happen, right? It’s safe to say things quickly turn into a night of horror as the teens are hunted by locals drenched in blood and something else far more evil. Your decisions will create a unique story where any of the characters can be killed or become the star of this story.
The Quarry has an impressive cast of actors you know from other projects like Justice Smith from Detective Pikachu and David Arquette who is no stranger to horror films having previously played Deputy Dewey Riley in the Scream films. I can’t wait to try out this game and see how many of the teens survive during my playthrough, this game is going to be scary and I can’t wait!
Demon Slayer- Kimetsu No Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles — 10th of June
Nintendo Switch
I am a huge fan of the Demon Slayer anime, so it won’t be too surprising to anyone to see this 3D fighting game on my list. The game recaps the whole story from the first season of the show and the movie, so if you haven’t seen the show before you won’t be totally lost, but the story will be spoiled for you in the game. There are 18 different characters that can be unlocked by completing challenges in the game so there will be a variety of characters to play as when you are battling against your friends in this beautiful-looking game. I’m not too sure how long it will take to play through the game, but as long as it’s fun to play against friends I’ll be happy!
Cuphead In the Delicious Last Course — 30th of June
Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Cuphead is one of those games that I love, but I also hate. It looks gorgeous, the characters are great and it’s a ton of fun, but damn it is hard! Definitely one of the most challenging games I have ever played, but every time I die I know exactly what I did wrong. Shortly after the original game was released there was new DLC announced, due to delays and the COVID pandemic Cuphead In the Delicious Last Course is finally coming out. The DLC brings a new island to explore with multiple levels, never enemies to defeat, and a new character named Ms. Chalice to play as. The part I am really excited about is the ability to play as Ms. Chalice in the original game, maybe using her new attacks and double jump will help me defeat the enemies that I was stuck on in the past.
I am ready to get my butt kicked in this new DLC and I know that I will love every minute of it!
Sonic Origins — 23rd of June
PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Having grown up with only Nintendo Systems, I totally missed out on playing a lot of the classic Sega titles like the Sonic franchise. On the 31st anniversary of the first Sonic titles coming out on the Sega Mega Drive we are going to receive four titles from Sonic’s past: Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Players get to decide if they want to play the Classic game from the ‘90s with limited lives and 16-bit or try out the new Anniversary mode that presents the games in widescreen and the option to play without worrying how many lives you have left, kind of a free-play mode. You also have the option to play as the character Knuckles in the titles that he wasn’t originally in.
So now I don’t have any excuse to not check out all these games that people love in Sonic’s past! Plus being able to play as Knuckles in any of the titles will be pretty cool! Though I will try out the games the way they were originally presented first before jumping into the updated widescreen mode!
All of these titles are going to be a ton of fun to play covering a huge variety of genres! From sports, to horror, fighting, and platforming, no matter what type of game you like, there is sure to be something fun releasing this month!
Are you planning to check out any of these titles? Are there any other games you feel that I missed and should be on the list? Leave a comment below! I will see you soon with the next list of games coming for July!
