Top Five Voice Actors in Gaming

Top Five Voice Actors in Gaming

Some voices stick out as memorable, such as Steve Blum, Frank Welker and Jim Cummings. Some of those do more video games than others - here’s a list of some of the most well utilised voices.

John DiMaggio

Starting with T’ai Fu: Wrath Of The Tiger in 1999, his first most notable appearance out of 57 was in Final Fantasy X. He has appeared in several Final Fantasy games since, as well as the Gears Of War series. His most recent role was in Lego Marvel Super Heroes, so that’s why he isn't higher up the list. Really, he makes the list purely because he is easy to recognise and when I do, it makes me grin.

Troy Baker

After voicing Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel in 2003 he has also been in Fable III, Titanfall and the Batman Arkham games. Other big titles he has been in include the Lego Super Heroes games and all three Final Fantasy XIII games. He has voiced main characters in Red Faction Guerrilla and the Transformers Cybertron games, and also minor characters in Prototype and Mafia II. Lately he has had a lot of starring roles such as Bioshock Infinite, The Last Of Us, the last two Saints Row games and even the recent inFAMOUS: Second Son. Though his voice isn't very versatile, often sounding the same, it is useful in many situations.

Laura Bailey

Since Bloodrayne in 2002, Bailey has lent his voice to 122 videogames. Every Dragonball/Dragonball Z game since Dragonball Z: Budokai 2, Fallout : New Vegas, all three Final Fantasy XIII games, Skyrim and Mass Effect 3. She was in both the DC and Marvel Lego Super Heroes games and even the voice for the default voice for the female player character in Saints Row: The Third and IV. Her most recent appearance was in inFAMOUS: Second Son, marking another title which she has joined Troy Baker on.

Jennifer Hale

Starting in 1994 with Quest For Glory IV: Shadows Of Darkness, Hale has done 154 video games. Ranging from Star Wars: X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter through Metal Gear Solid, to the Forgotten Realms, Metroid Prime and Mass Effect series’. She’s been a voice in every Spider-Man game not based on a movie since the original PlayStation, Halo 4 and most recently Elder Scrolls Online. With a total 228 roles, it’s clear she has a love for video games - or they just love her.

Nolan North

192 roles since Interstate ‘82 in 1999 prove that North has been working his rear off since his first job. He’s been in so many things that Saints Row IV had a player voice labeled as “Nolan North”. Of course, this was voiced by North himself, who was also in the original game. He has voiced in every Batman Arkham game, every Uncharted and he was in all of the core Assassin’s Creed titles. His most recent release is Titanfall, though he already has two upcoming, already announced games. He has perhaps the most used voice in gaming, but he’s worth it.
