The Plucky Squire Full Achievement Guide

The Plucky Squire Full Achievement Guide

I am going to give a quick spoiler warning here — naturally, we touch on pretty late-game stuff the deeper into the piece we go. If you are yet to finish the game and want to do so wholly blind, I recommend doing that. That said, I do suggest reading ahead up until the first achievement to learn about what is needed to get 100% of the game and some necessities… if just to save yourself a lot of trouble later.

As a fan of achievement hunting, especially in platformer titles, I had made up my mind — the moment I watched The Plucky Squire's announcement trailer — that I'd finish it. After having received a key (thanks, Devolver Digital and All Possible Futures!), I got the opportunity to do just that! I figured that some of my fellow achievement hunters might want to give it a shot.

Before we talk about the achievements, I wanted to point out that The Plucky Squire does suffer from something that plagues linear titles very often: it has missable achievements. Five of the Hidden Achievements are missable things that happen in specific Chapters, and all of the collectible achievements are missable (for obvious reasons). If you don't mind replaying the game, I'd recommend going through the entire story and enjoying the narrative and gameplay first before revisiting to tackle all of the achievements.

If you're here just for the Art Scrolls and the Glitchbird locations, then I am going to redirect you to those unique guides. With 50 Art Scrolls and 10 Glitchbirds, I figured it made more sense to separate those into their own unique sections!

One small note before we begin, too — The Plucky Squire is a very tedious 100% to acquire. While the achievements are simple and oftentimes fun to get, the main issue is when you fail to get a specific item — if you miss a Glitchbird or an Art Scroll, and your save file's backups erase a viable one, you're going to have to start over. The 3D sections, specifically, disappear once you've finished with them, and with Art Scrolls frequently being placed there, you'll find yourself replaying Chapters for longer than you'd like; without being able to skip cutscenes, it becomes tedious quite quickly to have to Chapter Replay just to get one missed collectible.

This is doubly true for Glitchbirds — they are finicky in their coding. If you miss even a single Glitchbird, you'll have to restart the entire game, as unlike the Art Scrolls, using Chapter Replay will not help you progress your achievement... but instead reset it. If you get a single Glitchbird in Chapter Replay or you miss one, you'll need to play the game over again in order to get 100%.

Story Complete & Adventure Complete

Complete the Story Mode. / Complete the Adventure Mode.

The first achievements I'd like to talk about are the last ones: Story Complete and Adventure Complete. While The Plucky Squire does give you the option to pick either of the two difficulties at the start, you will need to pass it in the Adventure difficulty (which is technically the hardest).

It's worth noting that this mode isn't too difficult, though the later levels can be a bit of a hassle. Thankfully, The Plucky Squire has robust accessibility features that should be able to help you complete this, even if you struggle with Adventure Difficulty!

Powerful Puncher

Defeat the Honey Badger in a boxing match.

image 2024 09 20 110456360

This achievement is unmissable, and it is the first one you will get in the game! By progressing throughout the first chapter, you'll eventually arrive at Honey Peak, where you'll find an angry badger eating at Benny Bee's honey. A mini-game will trigger, where you will box the Honey Badger, and once you emerge victorious, you will unlock Powerful Puncher!

Optimistic Explorer

Try jumping off the desk. Worth a go.

image 2024 09 20 110533710

The earliest you'll be able to get this is in Chapter Two — Tome Tower, right after Humgrump expulses you from the book. You can go to the far left of that Desk world, and there, you'll find a place where you can jump off the desk to get the achievement.

In fairness, however, this is one of those achievements you're likely to get throughout your playthrough by miss-stepping while exploring. And if not, any of the Desk sections have a way for you to jump to your untimely death, so you should be good to go!

Huge Frog

Rearrange a sentence to make the little frog huge.

image 2024 09 20 110749414

In Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail, after you complete the dark 2D section and arrive at the word puzzle with the huge bug sitting in the middle of the path, you'll want to wait before you move on. After completing the puzzle and arriving at the Tiny Frog, you'll want to take the original word for the bug (Huge Bug) and place it on the frog, turning it huge.

If you happen to have already jumped down after this page (there is a jump that leads you to Martina), you can use a portal in the Tiny Lilypad page to go back to the Huge Frog and complete the hidden achievement.

Perfect Fish Grab

Catch Floatio on your first try.

image 2024 09 20 110716022

It's time for a test of skill — shortly after the Huge Frog achievement, you'll pass the Tiny Lilypad section and arrive at Floatio, a mini-game where you have to try to grab a fish flapping around. To earn this achievement, you're going to have to get Floatio on the first try, which is pretty much a test of endurance.

The best way to approach this achievement is to reload every time you fail at grabbing Floatio, as the game auto-saves immediately upon entering the location. The fish's jumping patterns are entirely randomised, so he won't always jump at the same height or speed every time he does so. I'd recommend waiting for Floatio to be jumping low, as that is when I found the most success at getting him on my first grab.

Huge Bridge

Rearrange a sentence to make the bridge huge.

image 2024 09 20 110825688

Immediately after Floatio's mini-game in Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail, you'll find the page where the puzzle involves singing frogs and changing the time from night to day. This puzzle involves a string of changing the time of day and shifting the frog's sleeping positions with massive blocks, though you can get an achievement for using a word hidden before.

Using the Metamagic right beside the peak near the Destroyed Bridge, you can head back to the Huge Lilypad you created to advance a few pages back, take the word "Huge" from there, and come back via the portal to change the sentence from, "THE BRIDGE WAS BROKEN" to "THE BRIDGE WAS HUGE". This will unlock the hidden Huge Bridge achievement.

If you are just advancing, do bear in mind that "THE BRIDGE WAS HUGE" will prevent the frog from moving during the daytime, meaning that you won't be able to progress with the bridge being huge — you'll need to solve the puzzle the intended way, still.

Cheese Mushrooms

Rearrange a sentence to make some cheese mushrooms.

image 2024 09 20 110931672

In Chapter Six — Very Metal, you'll be climbing Mount Trarrg. At one point in your adventure, you will encounter a very angry monster that will only come out to cheese and will not let you pass; this is where you'll be able to create the cheese mushrooms.

To get the achievement, you'll need to progress in the puzzle — get the key from under the wooden block, use the key to unlock the word metal, and get close to the mushrooms to turn the block into a glowing block. The glowing mushrooms we mentioned are the ones you'll use to turn into cheese, as at the very end of the puzzle, you'll take the word cheese beside the mushrooms, and all you have to do is place the word there to create the phrase and unlock the achievement.

Star Walker

Retrieve the scroll from the top of the star projector.

image 2024 09 20 111008678

This achievement is very easy to miss, as there is no way to backtrack to 3D worlds after you've completed your primary objective there. At the very top of the 3D section in Chapter Six — Very Metal, where Zip's dad's final metal piece is, you can climb the projector. At the very top, you'll find the 29th Art Scroll and get the achievement.

Metal Warrior

Defeat the Mega Eagle.

image 2024 09 20 111058264

This is an unmissable achievement that you'll get for defeating the Mega Eagle fight in Chapter Six — Very Metal.

Cheese Pillar

Rearrange a sentence to make a cheese pillar.

image 2024 09 20 111131350

In Chapter Six — Very Metal, during your fight against Gozzy, you'll find two pillars at his sides: the Noisy Pillar and the Towering Pillar. You'll want to go back to the area where you left your Cheese (likely at the Mushroom achievement) in order to bring it here and replace one (or both) of the words with CheeseBy doing this, you will unlock the achievement, though you'll still have to finish the boss fight the intended way.

Mighty Witch

Defeat the Mage.

image 2024 09 20 111228802

The next achievement you'll get after Cheese Pillar is all the way in Chapter Eight — Clash at the Castle. This is a story achievement, where you'll be introduced to Violet's mini-game; after defeating the Mage terrorising Violet's Clipso, Pinny, and Artia Plaza, you'll get Mighty Witch.

Bust Buster

Rearrange a sentence to blow up Humgrump's bust.

image 2024 09 20 111316833

During Chapter Nine — The Magnificent Humgrump, you'll stumble across a puzzle that has two Metal crates and requires you to get the word "Broken".After opening the door, you'll find a diamond bust of the magnificent king, Humgrump... which you will have to destroy.

After completing the puzzle, you can use the word "Broken" on the Humgrump bust to fracture it. After, you'll need to head out to the 3D world and use your Bomb Stamp to destroy it, giving you the achievement.

Powerful Jot

Fully upgrade Jot's abilities.

image 2024 09 20 111341481

You'll be able to finish this achievement by the time you reach Chapter Nine — The Magnificent Humgrump, where you can finally have enough light bulbs to get all of the upgrades from Martina. All you need to do is pretty much buyout everything Martina has in terms of upgrades, which includes all sword throw upgrades, spin attack upgrades, sword upgrades, and the base abilities.

WRETCHED RODENT!!!

SIMPLY INFURIATING

image 2024 09 20 112134173

PISS OFF THE HUMGRUMPIANS AS PIP. And by that, I mean finish all of the mini-games with Pip; it's an unmissable achievement!

Triumphant Squire

Defeat the nefarious sorceror Humgrump.

image 2024 09 20 111438588

This achievement is essentially the final achievement you'll get alongside the aforementioned Adventure Complete and Story Complete, as this is the final achievement before the story itself is completedUnmissable and marks the end of your journey if you've been following the Glitchbird and Art Scroll guides!

Congratulations, Plucky Squire! You've saved the day once again. This marks the end of our guide — I hope this was useful to you in any sort of way, and best of luck in completing (or congratulations on completing) 100% of the achievements for The Plucky Squire!
