As insightful readers may have intuited, I live up in the cold north where the world outside is frozen and dark. As such, any and all distractions from my frost-bitten extremities are a welcome one! The place where my flights of fancy lead me is the warm Caribbean, which naturally leads me to pirates, as they too share my fear of losing limbs. What better way to escape the chill than to hop online with your buddies, try out your best “yarrgh”, and take to the open Sea of Thieves!

In this pirate-themed adventure, you and your loyal crew pilot your very own pirate ship through the land, looking for pillage and plunder. Take on quests, explore the world, or just form a rag-tag band of nasties! Though the title is five years old at this point, it is still alive and well, going as far as releasing the Sea of Thieves 2023 Edition! This handy-dandy version contains the base game and all permanent content added since launch, making it a great way to hop into the oddly stylish boots of these sea-faring buccaneers! The fact that the edition comes with a small bundle of gold and cosmetics helps. Need to make a good first impression when raiding a ship, after all.
