More often than not, we as gamers take on the role of the hero racing into battle, sword held high and armour gleaming bright. While there’s nothing wrong with this, sometimes it’s nice to show off our strategic acumen and tactical brilliance instead! Why not be the general instead of the soldier? Well, in Total War: WARHAMMER III, you can! That, and you can play as the forces of the plaguefather Nurgle!
Seeing your fledgeling empire start from a few small cities into a gigantic force of destruction is one of my favourite things in the Total War: WARHAMMER series. The campaigns usually spring a surprise or two after a few turns and, at least for me, never go quite as planned. They also take a fair bit of time, so there will be stuff to do for weeks to come! If nothing else, seeing the literal tide of Skaven slowly spread from one edge of the map to the other is a pleasure! Or the ratfolk pick a fight too big for their whiskers and end up eliminated, but at least they go out with style.
