Synology at Gadget Show Live 2015
Synology were at Gadget Show Live 2015, showing off their range of different NAS devices predominantly, but that’s not what caught our eye. We thought we’d spotted a little media centre device, only clue being the HDMI port on the back. However, that wasn’t the case. What we’d stumbled upon was a part of Synology’s surveillance range, which is poised to make protecting your assets as painless as possible.
Their range links in with many other manufacturers devices, such that there’s no lock-in. It’s also a lot easier for Synology to concentrate on making one thing well, than having to research and develop all of the other things like cameras and door locks that go with it.
On demonstration was a few CCTV cameras linked to the Synology software, and you could see yourself approaching a small door they had on their stand. Pressing the button next to the door unlocked it for entry (as many an office worker will have possibly already used). The request for access was logged into the Synology software, along with relevant pictures of who’s just entered at that time.
Because of the internet-connected nature of the devices, you can also access your security system when you’re away from home or the office, so you can always be on guard of your prized possessions.
