When I was a child, I would play Cops & Robbers with my friends where we’d chase each other around the playground faux-arresting each other, creating squads and carrying off heists (if you think that was serious, you should have seen playground courtroom!). I was quite an imaginative child but nothing can prepare you for the insanity of Battlefield Hardline.
The newest title in the Battlefield series really brings to life the fantasies I had as a kid, and then some. It’s when you’re smashing through a fence in your police cruiser, partner riding shotgun as you pursue a gang of gun toting bandits in a souped-up Subaru that the experience is really driven home. Coordination and communication will become key as you speed through the streets and one wrong move could be the difference between you getting paid, or them taking the cheese.
With all the fan favourites returning from previous games in the franchise, Battlefield Hardline delivers new ways for users to play including sawed-off shotguns, stun guns, zip lines, and grappling hooks. The gadgets you can acquire on both teams can drastically change a map for better or worse. There’s no point guarding a ladder if the building can be scaled behind your back.
If the multiplayer aspect wasn’t enough for you, there’s an in depth single player campaign from the studio that brought you Dead Space, and has a cast of actors such as Alexandra Daddario (True Detective), Kelly Hu (Arrow), Wendy Calhoun (Justified), and Benito Martinez (House of Cards). The story follows Nick Mendoza, a rookie of the Miami Police Department as he tries to navigate the morally complex criminal underworld.
What are you waiting for? Give your imagination a rest, and get stuck in!
