So I Tried... Super Bunny Man
Each edition of So I Tried… I will try a game that I have never tried before. Will I find something new to love? Will I find something new to despise? I'll take a full half hour, no matter how bad it gets or how badly I do, to see if this is the game for me. This time I decided to try out Super Bunny Man, a multiplayer game that maybe has the potential to be a great addition to game night.
What I thought it was
When I first saw the footage for Super Bunny Man, I thought it looked incredibly weird. The “bunny” characters looked like grown men in bunny pyjamas rolling around, so it was very odd. My kids thought the game looked hilarious, but I was thinking it might be one of those games that are just stupid and only funny for a younger audience.
What it actually is
Super Bunny Man’s single-player Story Mode wasn’t overly fun for me. You constantly do somersaults and roll through the level, trying to get over the gaps in the ground and get to the portal. There is a small boost/jump that you can do that lets you bounce up if you time it right. Figuring out the exact position where you need to boost is a bit tricky, but once you play for a while and figure out the timing, it gets easier. I then tried out the co-op Multiplayer mode with my son. To get through the level, you both have to get to the goal. If one of you falls and dies, the other might as well jump down the hole, too, because the portal is gone and there is no way to finish. This is actually quite entertaining, as each Bunny Man has their own little scream for when they are falling and dying. We got through a lot of levels, each doing our own thing until we hit a stage with a huge gap that you couldn’t roll over, we kept trying to jump and boost at the right time with no success. Luckily, I decided to check the controls and noticed the ability to grab, this changed everything. You can grab the other player and roll together making a huge man-bunny ball that can easily go over gaps and allows you to use your boost to launch each other. I guess the key to co-op mode is actually working together!
Will I keep playing
I will definitely play more of Super Bunny Man, but not on my own. This is absolutely a game that you have to play multiplayer! There is also a Party Mode that has mini-games that you can check out, Deathmatch where you try to throw the other players into spikes, Basketball that requires you to use your hop/kick to launch the ball into the basket, and Carrot Grab where you choose a team, grab a jetpack, and collect carrots. I have to say, seeing these weird bunny men humping each other is just stupidly funny, and I am incredibly happy that I decided to pick this up. Game night this weekend is going to be ridiculous with the addition of Super Bunny Man!
