So I Tried... Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk

Each edition of So I Tried… I will try a game that I have never tried before. Will I find something new to love? Will I find something new to despise? I'll take a full half hour, no matter how bad it gets or how badly I do, to see if this is the game for me. This time I went for a game with the craziest title I’ve ever heard of; Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk.

What I thought it was

I got a sneak peek at the trailer for this game when I saw it shown on a channel called GINX Esports. Between shows, they show trailers for games that have been released recently, both AAA and indie titles. When this game was shown I was curious what the heck a game called Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk would be; the title doesn’t give you an idea, except that it’s probably something pretty crazy. It looked like it was a text-based adventure, but it never really showed what the game was about. When I checked the game out on Steam, I saw that it has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating with 97% of the 14,423 players who rated it enjoying it, for $1.29 CAD (0.79-pound sterling and 0.97 US) there was no reason to pass this game up. 

What it actually is

Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk is a visual novel that shows you how difficult even the simplest task can be for someone struggling with mental challenges like anxiety or paranoia. Your first task in the game is to help a girl go to the store to buy milk. It may seem straightforward to you, but the player sees everything that she is thinking about and how this errand seems incredibly scary and daunting. You are there to help motivate her and give her the confidence that she needs, or if you are a jerk, instead of picking the nice and friendly option, you can just tell her outright that she is stupid. The choice is up to you, but I decided to be a nice person and help her with this “small” task. 

Will I keep playing

Definitely, the story for Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk is incredibly interesting, and the creepy music and visuals have you thinking that there may be something more sinister at work here. With an incredibly short playtime, of less than half an hour, I now feel like I need to try out the sequel called Milk Outside a Bag of Milk Outside a Bag of Milk. This story ends for us, but for the main character, this is never ending…
