Short Thought: Why No Patches for Carmageddon: Reincarnation?
Upon launch, Carmageddon: Reincarnation was such a mess that we scored it almost as low as Project CARS due to having to reconfigure practically every part of the reviewer’s computer to make it work.
And since then, there have been zero patches, hotfixes or announcements of either, and modding support still isn’t available. Release date was 21st of May, and it’s been three full months.
So why has there been nothing but the odd post from the community manager on the official forums giving vague promises? Why were such massive optimization problems not fixed before release, when a large vocal portion of those who bought it in Early Access had been submitting bug reports with every patch since the alpha?
Warner Bros. Games removed Batman: Arkham Knight from Steam, and all legitimate resellers, after it released to the tune of 8,500 negative user reviews, and who knows how many refunds. Carmageddon: Reincarnation hasn’t had nearly as many of either, but that seems to be because the user base is more forgiving (and smaller). Negative reviews are still racking up, but they seem content to post up complaints on the forum and Steam community board rather than go straight to posting negative reviews.
Perhaps if the negatives or demands of refund began numbering in the thousands, Stainless would work on it faster? Hopefully they wouldn't get Iron Galaxy involved, who would probably only make it worse like they did with Arkham Knight… Maybe they could patch in more mod support so that users could fix it.
