People you will meet in MMOs

MMORPGs being based around lots of people playing the same game means you meet a lot of people, and unfortunately they often fall under certain categories. From my personal experiences, I have managed to create a full list of each of these categories.

1. Score Board Bragger: This person will constantly say how they are the highest of the scoreboard in one category, irrelevant of how unimportant the category is. For example they might brag about killing blows, but for all we know they could all be kill steals. They constantly gloat about their excellence and challenge others to meet their standards, while they are top of a category. They can get annoying and often will; fortunately it is very easy to not pay any attention to them. They often will point out the fact ad nauseam so much that it becomes the only thing they say.

2. AFKer: The AFKer will go into main areas of the game then alt tab and do something else. While it doesn’t make any difference if they do it here, some will after joining a PvP or PvE instance. Some will go AFK, right after clicking ready. This can get annoying as you are one person less against the other team. It's an annoyingly common sight for me in MMORPGs, most of them are max level and seem to not be bothered, yet they keep playing. The reason they click the ready button will always be a mystery

World of Warcraft AFK

3. Quiet Killer: These guys are awesome; they will not speak in chat or any other form of communication. But they will deal the most damage and kill the boss. Their calling card is no talking, they will be a high level, they will have the best gear and they will destroy all the enemies. Unfortunately for every one of them you will get fifteen AFKers. They're a lot of fun to play with, but bear in mind that it could get a little tricky if it's a game that requires a lot of team coordination. They can often be seen soloing bosses and carrying teams.

4. Rager: These people are in every game, and really every aspect of life. They will get incredibly angry for usually no reason. These people and noobs react together like rabbits and nuclear bombs. They will get annoyed at the smallest mistakes and will make their views known, through ALL CAPS YELLING.  They don't seem to understand the concept of a game, and the fact that they purely exist for fun, it's obvious that they take the game incredibly seriously, as they take the game incredibly seriously; they are easy to spot with as they are normally outspoken and as loud as humanly possible. They're often found in chat blaming the rest of their team for losing.

5. Need: These people will always roll need when the loot is being split up regardless of what the loot is. They might not even be able to use it but they feel the need to because why not. sometimes it doesn't even matter whether it is a common item, or a health potion, but it can get annoying when it is a class specific rare item, luckily, they don't come around too often and could definitely be a lot worse, they also go hand-in-hand with the next group of people. They also go hand in hand with the next group of people.

6. Hoarder: Hoarders will hold onto all junk possible, from the least important weed to the best weapon in the game, which they cannot use because they are not that class. They refuse to throw anything away because in their infinite wisdom they might need it at some point to save the world. Luckily, they don't come around too often and could definitely be a lot worse, they also go hand-in-hand with the next group of people. They're pretty easy to spot, just look for the players that NEVER use the trade option.

7. Fanboy: These people do not believe there is a single problem with the game. Any complaint about the game no matter how valid will be denied as a filthy lie. If a boss, or weapon is OP they will get defensive and claim the person making complaints is simply a terrible player. The saying “don’t hate the player hate the game” is reversed with these these types of players and they are incredibly naive about some of the problems that affect their precious game.

N00b MMORPG8. Noobs: These people are new, and therefore not always very good at the game to begin with and whilst it's obvious they don't yet know everything about the game, they often get an odd amount of hatred. While they can be annoying it is not out of malice it is always out of lack of knowledge. They often do not get along with the rager, and the rager will get annoyed because the noob is not good at the game and so will rage at them. Noobs are an integral part of any game as it means new people are getting involved and are wanting to play the game you enjoy.

9. Normal Nice Guy: These people will play the game for fun, they will be courteous, polite and funny. for the most part they're nice and friendly, a bit like the quiet killer without the quiet part. They can be noticed from their pleasant demeanour and happy mood. Of course these people do not actually exist; if they did then the other types would not exist.

That is my list of the nine people you will encounter in MMORPGs. Most people will abide to one of these groups in a lesser or higher extent, I myself fall into the noob and hoarder category.

Thanks for reading.
