If It Was Real: Cheating

We live in a technical world. There’s no two ways about it (except if you’re Amish but that’s a whole other kettle of fish) and with an ever growing technical world, there’s an ever growing potential for security threats such as hacking. I’m sure anybody that has ever played a game has experience some degree of cheating whether it was built-in cheats in a single player game or hacking to give a player an advantage in an online game. It exists, we have to accept this.

Well, at the office we were discussing the potential for real life cheats and their uses. Here’s our favorites in no particular order.

Speed Hacks
The ability to speed up a character in a game to get to a destination or complete a task quicker sounds very appealing to those with a heavy workload or long commute. Before you leave the house, simply flick the switch on your speed hack and stop using the phrase “There’s never enough hours in the day” as you complete your tasks at 10 times the speed you usually do!
Downside
The downside of this is that if you leave the speed hack on, it will become your normal pace of operations. This means that even though you’re working 10 times faster than your previous speed, it won’t be long before the phrase “not enough hours in the day” creeps its way back into your vocabulary and you find a way to speed your current rate up by 10 again! It also hurts a heck of alot more when you bump your toe on the skirting board.

Wallhacks
How much time do you waste in a day opening and closing doors, I mean honestly, it’s such a time killer! Wouldn’t you prefer to be able to simply slip in between walls at will? I know I would!
Downside
What’s to say that having the ability to pass through walls at will wouldn’t mean that you would pass through the floor as well. Why stop there? Why wouldn’t you keep on going through the soil, slowly making your way down to the earth’s core? Lets say you survive the lack of oxygen long enough to reach the earth's core, the pressure would kill you for sure. Maybe I need to work on this idea a bit more.

Aimbot
Whilst it may be helpful for a few users to be able to use aimbot for its original purpose of assisting aiming of a weapon, I think the this would be redundant for the majority of modern society (unless, of course, you’re American) therefore, I will be slickly tweaking the nature of this hack to make it that you’re always right, no matter the circumstance.
Downside
Who likes a know-it-all? Sure, you could be a subject matter expert on anything and everything you chose to be, but in the end, people get fed up with people who are good at everything and you’d die alone, no doubt - use lightly!

Botting
You know those tasks you have to do over and over again like washing up, cleaning clothes, taking the rubbish out, creating reports etc.? How about we have you turn on auto-pilot and whilst you have a little snooze, your body will do the work for you? Sounds great right!
Downside
What if your body decides to develop intelligence of its own, waits for you to turn it on and then takes over your human form, leaving you in a permanent state of unconsciousness. You wake up, looking to watch a bit of TV after your bot has cleaned the living room and instead, you’re in a hospital bed, 50 years later, confused and dazed and having wasted your life. Maybe I’ll not be using this one, you know, just in case.

Motherlode
The cheat to give you as much money as you want at your fingertips! Can’t afford that car just yet? Bills building up? Just want a nicer watch? Forget those TV Loans you see, just flick on the the money cheat switch and get as much cash as your heart desires.
Downsides
Creating money out of nothing is great for you, but I’m sure the tax man would realise there’s something fishy going on after a while. You get brought in for questioning but manage to bribe your way out. It’s not long before the mob get wind of what’s going on and decide to test out your skill by kidnapping you and forcing you to create more and more money for them. This slowly but surely collapses your country and soon after, the worlds economy. Well done you.
