Iconic Zones Where Sonic Tasted the High Life
Sonic the Hedgehog is no stranger to the high life, often hanging around casinos and gambling although perhaps not as frequently as you remember. And just like visiting the online casino Dreamz we’re going to revisit some of the most memorable amusement and casino themed stages in Sonic the Hedgehog games.
Casino Night Zone
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Mega Drive)
The iconic stage everyone remembers when they think of Sonic and casinos, filled with pinball-related gadgets and gizmos and a lot of bright eye-popping colours. It’s a high energy zone with Sonic zipping around the place bouncing off a variety of bumpers, catapults and pinball flippers.
This version of the stage also includes slot machine elements which can actually payout in rings if the player is lucky enough to get the right combinations. It’s also interesting in that the stage design itself is the main point of difficulty as there are very few enemies throughout.
Carnival Night Zone
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Mega Drive)
It’s unsurprising that Sonic 3 would keep the theme going but it did change things up quite a bit. Keeping the same neon tinged night theme it instead focused more on the amusement/carnival side with its scenery. The bumpers and being knocked from side to side stayed but there was less reference to slot machines and the like. Being replaced with inflatable hammers and other attraction style gimmicks.
Casino Night Zone
Sonic the Fighters (Arcade/Saturn)
The original casino themed zone showed up as a fighting arena in this slightly obscure fighting game featuring Sonic and his pals. A lot of zones make appearances in the game although often with unusual names but Casino Night made the jump without a name change.
The arena itself is a night time affair surrounded by neon playing cards with a slot machine and other gambling paraphernalia in the background.
Casino Park
Team Sonic Racing (PlayStation 4/Xbox One/PC/Nintendo Switch)
In Team Sonic Racing, Casino Park is made up of three tracks, Roulette Road, Bingo Party and Pinball Highway. All three of the tracks use casino imagery to great effect, with Roulette Road having a sweeping 180 degree turn that encircles a giant roulette wheel. Bingo Party unsurprisingly uses a lot of generic casino props like chips and slot machine symbols but it is also home to lottery style imagery.
Pinball Highway is the most direct example of its namesake making an appearance on the track as it has multiple sections featuring pinball style bumpers alongside the now familiar casino chips and similar objects.
So there you go, some examples of iconic Sonic levels based on amusements and casinos. There are a lot more to choose from, almost every game in the franchise has at least one level that uses a similar theme so maybe we’ll revisit this topic!

Great selection! Really nice to see the often-overlooked Sonic The Fighters getting a mention too <3
