How Does Disney Dreamlight Valley's Battle Pass Work?
Disney Dreamlight Valley is out on Early Access for everyone that wants to buy its Founder's Pack and get an early jump into the title. Along with the release of the Early Access, we also get a look at its Battle Pass system; how long will it last, how does it work, and overall, is it annoying?
How Long Will the Battle Pass Last?
Although Gameloft (the developer and publisher for Disney Dreamlight Valley) has not announced the official length for each season, with the first Battle Pass — Pixar Fest — players have begun speculating that it will last approximately 30 days. This speculation comes from the length of the first one being 34 days since the original release, though we'll see how this will update with the coming months, as Gameloft has claimed they will be listening to community feedback. That means that you have a little over a month to claim 15 rewards — 37 if you buy the Premium Star Path.
How Does the Battle Pass Work?
All players that have already purchased a Founder's Pack edition for Disney Dreamlight Valley will get access to the Pixar Fest Battle Pass, though you'll only have access to the free version. Depending on the Founder's Pack version you purchased, you'll have received from 8,000–20,000 Moonstones, Disney Dreamlight Valley's premium currency. This is enough to buy this Battle Pass and several other future ones, as the premium Star Path costs 2,500 (or 4,500 if you want to get a head start).
Throughout the 34 days that the Pixar Fest will be available, you'll be able to acquire Tokens by completing Duties in the game. These Duties can be found within the Event tab in the menu, and you'll have three quests if you haven't purchased the premium version and six if you have. These Duties are quests you must complete that touch on various in-game mechanics; each one will give you a certain amount of Tokens you can spend on items. There are six different tiers you can unlock, each featuring seven unique items, aside from the last one, which only has one. To unlock the next tier, you'll need to have purchased a few things on the previous one, which will open the next seven to unlock the next level. That said, you can choose how many items you purchase from each tier, meaning that you won't need to pick and choose which ones you get depending on how many Duties you complete.
Is the System Annoying?
Not in the slightest! Thankfully, Disney Dreamlight Valley's Duties aren't daily, nor do they change after a certain period, and you don't have a limit of how many you can complete daily. Meaning that if you were extremely dedicated (and, in some cases, lucky), you'd be able to finish almost the entire Battle Pass in one day — something my wife nearly succeeded in doing. The lack of daily missions means that you can jump in and out of it without the pressure of having to return daily to complete them, making it as relaxing as the rest of the game is. And although some of the more difficult missions don't go away (looking at you, "Mine 20 Topaz" and "Give 12 Favorite Gifts"), you can be working towards them slowly and finishing them over several days.
I'm willing to say that Disney Dreamlight Valley has one of my favourite Battle Pass systems. The way you can take it at your own pace and get the items you want feels far more forgiving than others I've purchased and completed, which often require you to do daily tasks or perform well to get a lot of items; it's a perfect Battle Pass that fits the theme of the game perfectly.
Depending on how expensive the Moonstones will be once they are made available in the store, this might continue to be one of my favourite Battle Pass systems.
Should You Buy It?
Most likely!
Although you might not be interested in the Pixar-themed items (such as The Incredibles motif, which I cannot wait to get myself), you also get 2,175 Moonstones to work towards the next Battle Pass — that's 87% of the cost! So, if you have an item in the Premium track that you want but aren't super sold on getting it just yet, I'd personally recommend it; you're essentially only paying 315 Moonstones for however many items you might want and get.
So, will you be getting the Star Path for the Pixar Fest? I couldn't pass it up — not only do I adore getting items from the first ever Battle Pass, but I am a huge Pixar fan! Let me know; I'd love to get to talk to others more about Disney Dreamlight Valley!
