Far Cry 3 Short Thought: Sharks
The sharks featured in this game are just terrifying (and I'm confident they have contributed to my hatred of the sea — it's just not a place for us humans to be messing around). These sharks are like horrifying bouncers, patrolling the edges of the map and not allowing you to escape. Far Cry New Dawn and Far Cry 6 brought back sharks, but it was here in Far Cry 3 where it first got to me.
For the majority of the game, you are the hunter, whether you're slowly picking your way through an enemy stronghold or dumping an entire magazine of submachine gun ammo into a tiger. Regardless of how you ultimately choose to do so, the game is constantly encouraging you to take control of the situation. That's not easy to do in the sea. You're on the shark’s turf at that point and you're the one being hunted.
While they are not powerful enough to instantly kill the player, the particular way they creep up and catch you off guard — with their signature bite animation — is horrible. I hate it!
