Disaster Report Diaries (Raw Danger!) Part Fifteen
This is my exploration of the Disaster Report series where I will chronicle my playthrough like a text-based Let’s Play. Now let’s continue Raw Danger!...
Although Paige Meyer had managed to escape high school with her bully in tow, there was still the little matter of the seemingly radioactive material outside, that I hoped would be answered by our next protagonist…
The unidentified 26-year-old male woke with a woman at his bedside, and I asked who she was. She laughed as if I were joking, and went to get some food — and immediately collapsed unconscious on the floor. I decided to find someone to help and looked around, finding myself in a laundrette. I grabbed an Emergency Pack from a bench and a Garbage Bag from the floor then went outside and was almost immediately soaked.
Up the road, I could see ambulances, so I ran over, finding a makeshift shelter in a parking area. Some tarpaulin sheets had been hung to provide some protection to the handful of people inside. I went in and was turned around by the medical technician inside, so explained that I’d found someone unconscious and we hurried back to the laundrette.
Since the technician wasn’t a doctor, they insisted that I take a stethoscope they happened to be carrying, as I was a doctor. Because no other profession wears a lab coat, and the plus symbol on their helmet clearly stood for France. Being called a doctor caused me to obtain a memory fragment — Job: Doctor.
Before checking on the woman, I warmed up, then checked my special ability, Remember Memory. Since I wore “a white gown” and was referred to as “doctor”, I put two and two together and figured I was a doctor. With that in mind, I whipped out the stethoscope and checked the lady out, discovering that she had a fever. Not quite sure how listening to her caused that revelation, but sure.
As I needed to bring the fever down, I went looking for things to help. I found a convenience store next door and went in to look around. Of course, it had been largely looted, but I found and picked up an Energy Drink, a Heating Pad, a Cardboard Box, a Porridge, two Adhesive Tapes, and an Icy Patch. In the alley behind the store was a Clothespole and what I took to be a shellshocked employee, who could only mutter about the looting.
Across the street was a homeless person who wanted a box to erect some walls and protect the area they were in from the wind. Rather than just hand over my Cardboard Box, I combined it with some Adhesive Tape to create a Cardboard Wall and gave that to the person. With the walls in place, they gave me a Chef’s Hat, which I put on. Anything to even slightly protect me from the rain and cold, as my body temperature was dropping like a stone…
I grabbed two frying pans, and equipped some Myopia Glasses for funsies, then made my way back to the laundrette, as I was unable to run quite as fast anymore, which was a very bad sign. I warmed up, then applied the Icy Patch to the woman’s head, bringing her fever down — but she began shivering. I have to say, that was an effective patch.
Returning to the medical technician, I asked for a Blanket, and once more returned to the laundrette where I put it on the woman. Presently, she woke up and asked me to go with her because of something to do with David. I reminded her that I didn’t remember anything (kind of ironic) and she called me Ivan, then said I probably had amnesia. Now, since Amber had seen his photo ID earlier, I knew his name was Ivan Kozlov. Not that this advanced knowledge did anything for me, as she immediately told me my name.
She went on to tell me that I was good friends with David Brazil, her boyfriend, but she still didn’t tell me her name. She had heard that David was murdered by his sister, who he was very close to and talked about all the time, and yet she had never seen a photo of, otherwise she would have recognised Amber earlier… Two memory fragments unlocked, both parts of my name. She asked me to go to the Landmark Apartments with her. I agreed, as it might help me find out more about myself.
I warmed up, remembered my name, then followed her outside. She slowly walked past the medical shelter and down the street but was stopped by major flooding. I returned to the shelter and spotted an air mattress, which unlocked the job memory of “Air Mattress”? We had our boat, but we still needed oars — unfortunately, the Broom I required to make some had been taken by Isaac Schiller earlier! I found a Rudolph’s Compass on a footbridge and an R-9D Compass next to a bench as I ran up and down the street trying to find another mop but to no avail.
By the time I spotted an alleyway nestled between the laundrette and convenience store, I had warmed up twice, shared some Porridge with the woman, and grabbed some Chicken Broth and a Geo Treat from the store. But back to that alley, I found Jasper inside, so I gave him my Frying Pan and the Clothespole. In the open door right next to him were two Oars, so I grabbed those, warmed up again, then went to grab the Air Mattress.
When confronted about trying to take it away, I said that the woman needed it to lay on. The medical technician agreed to help me carry it out, so I led the way to the flooded area and we dumped the Air Mattress in the water. The medical technician didn’t want to contradict me because “I’m not a medical expert”, so I think I may have been mistaken about what their job was. The white helmet with the plus on the front might have been to indicate that they were good at mathematics. We hopped onto the makeshift raft and rowed off.
